About Me

Hi, thanks for dropping by!

Me in Alaska_edited.jpg

This summer I am in Alaska.

Rather than spend a two-week vacation backpacking in the mountains,  I wanted to experience for a longer time living closer to wilderness, far from land deeply modified by humans, in a place where wildlife and wild landscapes are your constant companions.

I chose Juneau as somewhere I could work as a naturalist, live with my German Shepherd Eiger and meet others willing to discard conventional comforts to experience wonder every day in the natural  world.  Life is too short and too precious to do otherwise.

I am excited to use the communication skills I have honed as a journalist for something quite different - interpreting glacial geomorphology and marine mammals for tourists and sharing with them my awe for this beautiful world.

I invite you to follow my blog posts and enjoy the photos I post periodically of my adventures.
